Cleanliness and selective sorting
Do you know that a French bin is composed of about 28 % of paper and cardboard, 12 % of plastic, 26 % of organic matter and 5 % of metals, the remainder being consisted of various products.
But French people indirectly generate much other waste too. So it is necessary to respect the selective sorting organised by the Urban Community of Soissons.
Here are the container colour codes:
YELLOW CONTAINER:
Collection at home twice a month What can you put in it?
- Plastic bottles, flasks and cans
- Metallic boxes and packaging
- Bricks
- Newspapers and magazines
- Paper, leaflets, ads
- Cardboard packaging
GREEN CONTAINER:
Collection at home once a month What can you put in it?
MAROON CONTAINER:
Collection at home twice a week What can you put in it?
- Bags, cling films, blister packs, polystyrene containers
- Yoghurt, cream or soft white cheese jars
- Food waste (if no compost)
- Greasy or dirty papers
- Tissues or nappies
- Disposable dishes
- Mirrors, panes of glass, flasks
- Bulbs and neon tubes
- Dishes, pieces of earthenware and china
